The Director Shibprasad also acted in the film. Besides Jaya Ahsan, Paomi Dam, Poran Bondhapadhdhay starred in the film.
Kontho tells a real-life story of a cancer patient Bibhuti Chakrabarty. It is the story of cancer and the fearless spirit of the survivour.
The plot of the film is based on the removal of the larynx of Arjun Malik, the protagonist of the film. He is a famous radio jokey. And his audience love to hear his voice. His wife Pritha is also a voice artist. Suddenly, Arjun got to know that he has larynx cancer and had to sacrifice the only organ his life was centred on.
He went to a therapist named Romila and he taught Arjun how to speak through the food pipe. He was struggling at first but gradually got hold of it. But he did not give up right there. He helped other cancer survivors overcome the obstacles.
